Staff Can Now Submit eConsults!
On 9/8/25, the Colorado Medicaid eConsult platform introduced a new Staff User role: Staff Submitter. The Staff Submitter User role can initiate and submit eConsults directly, with the direct guidance from the Referring Provider.
Previously, only Referring Providers can submit the eConsult. By extending submission duties to trained staff, Referring Providers can save time, and align with current practice workflows, while ensuring Medicaid Members get answers without waiting months for a specialist visit.
Who should be considered as a Staff Draft Only or Staff Submitter User?
- Referral Coordinators
- Medical Assistants
- Nursing Staff
Practices will have the option to designate each staff user as either:
- Staff Draft Only – Can initiate eConsults and upload documentation but cannot submit; the Referring Provider reviews and submits the eConsult.
- Staff Submitter – Can initiate eConsults, upload documentation, and submit eConsults directly on behalf of the Referring Provider.
The consultative exchange will remain between the Referring Provider and the Reviewer. The Reviewer’s clinical recommendations are sent to the Referring Provider’s Inbox for patient follow-up and next steps in care.
Action Required
All current staff users are defaulted as Staff Draft Only users.
If your practice wants to change your Staff user permissions or wants to incorporate the Staff in the referral process, please reach out to
coloradosupport@safetynetconnect.com.
Note: All Users must complete Staff Submitter training before this role can be activated
