Specialist (Reviewer) Spotlight

Board Certified Dermatologist, Dr. Jarod Conley, MD, is one of the Specialists (Reviewers) on the Colorado Medicaid eConsult Platform. He attended a combined, accelerated undergraduate and medical school program at Northeast Ohio Medical University. During this time, he became interested in dermatology and completed his residency at Washington University in St. Louis. He loves the variety of ages he sees, and the mixture of procedures and patient care in dermatology. He also really enjoys getting to know his patients and learning their stories. His practice is focused on medical dermatology, and he is comfortable treating individuals of all ages with various skin conditions. Him and his wife moved to Colorado in 2010 for the outdoors and active lifestyle. In his spare time, he likes to hike, fly fish, and camp.

Dr. Conley shared his views with SNC about the value he finds in participating as a Specialist (Reviewer) on the Colorado Medicaid eConsult Platform:

“Working as a dermatologist on the Colorado Medicaid eConsult platform has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve been able to offer crucial, timely care to patients who would otherwise face significant delays or outright barriers to getting care. It’s fulfilling to know I’m helping bridge the gap for individuals who need access to specialized dermatological care. This platform truly enables specialists to make a meaningful difference in the lives of underserved populations.”
-Dr. Jared Conley, MD

Staff Can Now Submit eConsults!

On 9/8/25, the Colorado Medicaid eConsult platform introduced a new Staff User role: Staff Submitter. The Staff Submitter User role can initiate and submit eConsults directly, with the direct guidance from the Referring Provider.

Previously, only Referring Providers could submit the eConsult. By extending submission duties to trained staff, Referring Providers can save time, and align with current practice workflows, while ensuring Medicaid Members get answers without waiting months for a specialist visit.

If your practice has referral coordinators, medical assistants, and/or nursing staff, consider including them in the eConsult process as a Staff Draft Only or Staff Submitter User.

Practices have the option to designate each staff user as either:

  • Staff Draft Only – Can initiate eConsults and upload documentation but cannot submit; the Referring Provider reviews and submits the eConsult.
  • Staff Submitter – Can initiate eConsults, upload documentation, and submit eConsults directly on behalf of the Referring Provider.

The consultative exchange will remain between the Referring Provider and the Reviewer. The Reviewer’s clinical recommendations are sent to the Referring Provider’s Inbox for patient follow-up and next steps in care.

Action Required

All current staff users are defaulted as Staff Draft Only users.
If your practice wants to change your Staff user permissions or wants to incorporate the Staff in the referral process, please reach out to
coloradosupport@safetynetconnect.com.

Note: All Users must complete Staff Submitter training before this role can be activated
