Exciting Expansion of the Staff Role Coming in September!
We are thrilled to announce an exciting new feature that is coming in September to the eConsult platform! Based on valuable feedback from participating providers, we are adding the option for designated staff members to initiate and submit eConsults with guidance from the Referring Provider. This enhancement is designed to make eConsults more accessible and efficient, streamlining the eConsult workflow and ultimately driving greater utilization of eConsults.
What’s New?
Starting soon, designated staff members will be able to document the Referring Provider’s clinical question, include supporting documentation, and submit the eConsult directly to the Specialist Reviewer. The consultative exchange will remain between the Referring Provider and the Reviewer, with the Reviewer’s clinical recommendation sent to the Referring Provider’s Inbox for patient follow- up and next steps in care.
How Does This Benefit Your Practice?
- Increased Efficiency: Staff can handle the eConsult submission from start to finish.
- Improved Workflow: eConsults can be streamlined with existing referral workflows, replacing face-to-face referrals with eConsults when appropriate.
- More eConsults Submitted: With fewer administrative steps required from the Referring Provider, it is easier to use eConsults more frequently.

Shannon Fisher, FNP-C at Fountain Valley Health Care, shared the following feedback after signing off on an eConsult for Endocrinology in the Colorado Medicaid eConsult platform:
“It is very nice to be able to have a specialist look over information that is concerning. This is much easier than letting the patient wait to get information or wait to be seen. This makes primary care more comprehensive and gives providers a piece of mind.”
