Valley-Wide Health Systems: Enhancing Rural Healthcare Access with the Colorado Medicaid eConsult Platform
In the rural stretches of Southern Colorado, Valley-Wide Health Systems is breaking down barriers to healthcare. With 15 clinics across multiple rural counties, this Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) provides essential primary care, dental, behavioral health, and more to thousands of Medicaid members in underserved communities.
To help close the gap in access to specialty care, Valley-Wide has embraced the Colorado Medicaid eConsult Platform. This is especially valuable in rural areas where specialty providers are few and far between. The platform improves the quality of referrals, enhances care coordination, and ensures patients get expert guidance quickly and affordably.
Since joining, 30 eConsults across 16 Adult and Pediatric Specialties have been submitted by providers at Valley-Wide Health Systems. Leading the way is Dr. Drake Sisneros, a trusted and compassionate provider at Valley-Wide’s Buena Vista clinic. Dr. Sisneros has emerged as a champion of eConsults, using the platform to bring specialty insights directly to patients while keeping care local and personal.
“As a rural provider, the Colorado Medicaid eConsult Platform has been invaluable. It keeps care patient-centered, efficient, and cost-effective while strengthening the trusted relationship between primary care providers and their patients.”
– Dr. Drake Sisneros, Valley-Wide Buena Vista
