Specialist (Reviewer) Spotlight
Board Certified Rheumatologist, Dr. Elizabeth (Liz) Arena, DO, MPH, FACR, is one of the Specialists (Reviewers) on the Colorado Medicaid eConsult Platform. She has been actively practicing Rheumatology for over 14 years, and she takes a holistic approach with all of her patients. At visits, they talk about stress reduction, lifestyle choices including nutrition, sleep and movement and how it can affect their diagnoses and improve their quality of life. She has additional certifications in both nutrition and life coaching to assist patients with their health and wellness when they come into her office for Rheumatology care.
She is also thrilled to be a regional medical director for provider wellbeing and experience with Intermountain Health. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, friends and family, and being outside. You will find her hiking, trail running, snowboarding and cross fitting. She also enjoys baking and cooking (and enjoying) gluten-free recipes.
Dr. Arena shared her views with SNC about the value she finds in participating as a Specialist (Reviewer) on the Colorado Medicaid eConsult Platform:
“My experience with eConsults has been very simple, easy and gratifying as I am able to provide necessary services and input for patients who otherwise might not have access to rheumatology as a specialty. Often we are reassuring PCP and providers that an in person visit is not
necessarily needed, rarely we do recommend in person visit and are able to assist in facilitating this and give them recommendations on how to advocate for their patients.
I greatly enjoyed my work with ConferMED doing eConsults and I am very appreciative that I am able to assist in the care of patients across the state of Colorado for the rheumatology needs.”

Congratulations to CCHA (RAE 3) and the providers in the region for submitting the most eConsults this year! More than 1400 eConsults have been submitted since the Colorado Medicaid eConsult Platform launched on 2/1/24. This continued growth reflects the collective effort across the region to improve access to specialty care for Health First Colorado members. Happy Holidays!
